Air Search Team.
LONSAR is currently in the process of developing an Air Search Team through the use of Drones.
All air search operators are required to meet the Lowland Rescue national standard which will include relevant competencies from both the CAA Commercial Qualification and Search & Rescue specialities.
A drone can provide the same search coverage, in some cases, as 22 search technicians on the ground over the same time period.
LONSAR has all relevant Non-Standard Flight permissions and agreements set out with London's airports and aerodromes Flight Restricted Zones in and close to London are included so that we can deploy their drones at short notice 24/7, wherever the search area.
